In January 2020 the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the outbreak of a new Corona-virus disease in China to the Public Health Emergency of International Concern. The disease, COVID‐19 was subsequently declared a pandemic, by WHO on the 11th of March 2020.
The speed of the spread and the alarming death rates have seen many countries and jurisdictions introduce measures to prevent the spread of COVID‐19, and handwashing features very strongly in all of these. Hand washing has received considerable attention during the COVID‐19 pandemic. It is a simple, primary preventive measure that most people can do independently, said Zuva Petroleum’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Bethwell Gumbo.
Mr Gumbo went on to say that, “On the 1st of April 2020 WHO released interim guidance with recommendations for the provision of hand hygiene facilities in front of public and private commercial sites. We have heeded this call and in our corporate social mission anchored by the Zuva Cares brand, we are pleased to announce the provision of hand washing stations to all our service stations and LPG retail sites across the country. We believe that having the hand washing basins located at our sites for the convenience of motorists and anyone who comes into contact with our brand will go a long way in fighting this deadly pandemic.”
Zuva Petroleum is certified in three ISO management systems namely Quality(9001) , Environment (14001) & Occupation Health & Safety (45001). “Our provision of hand washing stations across all our networks country wide is part of our Occupational Heath and Safety program aimed at making the workplace a better environment for our workers and the motoring public.”
It is our hope and trust that you shall consistently put these hand-washing basins to good use. #HygieneMatters.
